Tandem exists to make capable, modern technology accessible where it matters most.
Formed by professionals with deep experience in federal acquisition and operational support, Tandem was built around a clear observation: the tactical level is often underserved by traditional acquisition models and product design. Units face strict cost thresholds, compressed timelines, and limited tolerance for risk—constraints that many technologies are not built to meet.
Our Approach
Through direct engagement with end users, Tandem works backward from real operational requirements. We focus on shaping products and systems that align with tactical approval thresholds, regulatory realities, and field conditions. The result is technology that is modular, repairable, and purpose-built—designed to be sustained and trusted, not just acquired.
Tandem is not a traditional manufacturer or research institution. Our strength comes from collaboration. By partnering with capable small businesses, we help translate user needs into practical specifications and field-ready solutions. This model has proven that aligned small businesses can compete, scale, and succeed together.
The Matrix Architecture
The Matrix Architecture is more than a drone framework, it’s a new way of thinking about military modernization. It is about leveraging horizontal scale to improve security, adaptability, speed, and quantity by recognizing that the end result is often worth more than the sum of the parts.
Our independent small business partners work in Tandem rather than isolation. Partners share expertise, infrastructure, and opportunity across manufacturing, integration, power systems, logistics, sales, and contracting access.
Our products, components, and subcomponents are designed, manufactured, iterated, and delivered entirely in the US with that same flexibility and horizontal scale in mind. They are all linked and able to be swapped, upgraded, removed, and used in Tandem, not to mention they are designed to be the absolute simplest form, able to be replicated by every partner in the network.
Lastly, our configuration management logic is developed by end-users. These applications evaluate cost-per-success and value-of-success by empirically analyzing the performance factors that lead to success. Today. On modern-day battlefields. This data allows end-users, partners, and competitors alike to align their designs with the mission-set, environment, and use-case to provide a greater chance of success in use—and therefore, a lower cost of success.
Together, the matrix architecture provides modular, open-source, reusable, repairable, scalable, field-expedient products based on the best chance of success. These products each feature good-faith warranties, full right-to-repair, all digital files, background information, and feedback available to government end-users at all times, and come with our free, 9-5 Engineering support.
Participation in the network enables faster execution, resilient supply chains, and solutions shaped by real-world use. Partners support one another not just as vendors, but as peers committed to delivering accessible, effective capability.
Our Commitment
Tandem is committed to responsible innovation grounded in real requirements and strong partnerships. We did not set out to build a platform or pursue growth for its own sake. Our work is guided by alignment, trust, and execution—ensuring that capability, not bureaucracy, drives outcomes.
